Job Purpose:

The Surveyor Engineer is responsible for conducting land surveys to gather accurate data and measurements for construction projects, ensuring that designs and plans are accurate and feasible. They apply advanced surveying techniques, technologies, and engineering principles to collect, analyze, and interpret land data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Survey Planning & Execution:

Plan, organize, and conduct land surveys for construction projects, including boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. Ensure all data is collected accurately.

• Measurement & Mapping:

Measure distances, angles, and elevations to determine land boundaries, contours, and other key details. Create detailed maps and plans based on survey data.

• Use of Surveying Equipment:

Operate surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS units, and laser scanning devices to collect data. Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of equipment.

• Data Analysis & Interpretation:

Analyze survey data, identify discrepancies, and provide reports with accurate, timely findings. Interpret data to support design and planning stages of construction.

• Collaboration with Project Teams:

Work closely with architects, engineers, and construction managers to ensure that survey results are correctly applied in construction planning and execution.

• Prepare Survey Reports & Documentation:

Produce detailed survey reports, documentation, and legal descriptions for land boundaries and property divisions. Prepare maps, drawings, and diagrams for clients and regulatory bodies.

• Site Inspections & Safety:

Conduct site visits to verify the conditions and ensure that surveying procedures adhere to safety standards and regulations. Identify any potential risks that might impact the project’s progress or safety.

• Compliance with Regulations:

Ensure all survey work complies with local, regional, and national surveying standards and legal requirements. Keep up-to-date with relevant regulations and industry best practices.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related field. Certification or licensure as a land surveyor (depending on regional requirements).

• Experience:

2-5 years of experience in surveying, with a solid understanding of surveying software, GPS systems, and data analysis.

• Technical Skills:

Proficient with surveying equipment and software (AutoCAD, GIS software, Surveying Software, etc.). Strong understanding of engineering principles and construction processes.

• Attention to Detail:

Ability to perform precise measurements and ensure high levels of accuracy in all aspects of the survey process.

• Communication Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports and interact with project stakeholders.

• Problem-Solving Skills:

Ability to identify issues and recommend solutions in the field, ensuring that project timelines and requirements are met.

• Physical Fitness:

Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and ability to carry heavy equipment when required.
