Job Description
Job Summary: The Cashier is responsible for processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently in a professional and friendly manner within an industrial catering environment. This includes handling various forms of payment, maintaining the cash register, and ensuring a smooth, seamless transaction experience for customers. The Cashier will work closely with the Head Cashier to maintain cash control procedures and contribute to a positive customer experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and a customer service-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Transaction Handling:
o Accurately process customer payments, including cash, credit/debit cards, and other forms of payment.
o Provide customers with receipts and change, ensuring all transactions are completed correctly and promptly.
o Monitor and ensure the cash register is balanced at the start and end of each shift, working closely with the Head Cashier to resolve any discrepancies.
2. Customer Service:
o Greet and assist customers with a friendly and professional demeanor, ensuring they feel welcome and valued.
o Answer customer inquiries about menu items, pricing, and promotions, ensuring they have an informed and pleasant shopping experience.
o Handle any customer complaints or issues related to transactions with courtesy and professionalism, escalating to the Head Cashier or Manager when necessary.
3. Cash Management & Reconciliation: o Maintain accurate records of all cash, credit, and debit transactions, ensuring the till is consistently balanced.
o Securely handle cash and ensure that all monetary transactions are in line with company policies and procedures.
o Assist the Head Cashier in reconciling daily cash takings and preparing any necessary reports.
4. Sales & Promotions:
o Inform customers of any ongoing promotions, discounts, or special offers, encouraging sales and enhancing customer satisfaction.
o Upsell products or services when appropriate to maximize sales opportunities.
5. Maintaining Cleanliness & Organization:
o Ensure the cashier station and surrounding areas are kept clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies (e.g., receipt paper, pens, etc.).
o Ensure the front of house is tidy and welcoming for customers.
6. Collaboration & Team Support:
o Work collaboratively with other team members, especially the Head Cashier, to ensure efficient operations. o Provide support to other departments as needed during peak hours or when there is a need for additional assistance.
7. Compliance with Health & Safety Standards:
o Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and hygiene protocols, ensuring food safety standards are followed in accordance with company policies.
o Ensure safe handling of cash and maintain security of the cashier area at all times.
