Job Description

Essential Duties:

Responsible for checking and overseeing all animal health and wellbeing of farm animals and livestock staff.
Responsible for ensuring all livestock biosecurity is in place as per biosecurity plan.
Instruct Livestock Technician to organize livestock staff duties, for example, feeding, cleaning, maintaining livestock equipment and overseeing breeding and healthcare.
Ensure all livestock have the necessary food and water available as per farm procedures. Care for any illness or injuries and any concerns report to General Manager.
Prepare milk, eggs and chicken samples for laboratory testing as per company procedure.
Other Duties & Responsibilities

Provide and maintain all data and records to office of production, feeds and consumables used. Ensure all necessary testing of livestock products is carried out as per farm schedule and procedures. Observe cows in estrus and manage AI as per farm procedures. Oversee training for any new employees. Liaise with cropping Supervisor on composting, bees and livestock cropping.
Check and sign, that all daily worksheets have been completed, and submit to Farm Office.
Oversee staff to take correct working breaks as per Company policy and ensure all staff are in a safe working environment and adhere to Company Health & Safety Policy. Report daily to General Manager.

The applicant must hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience as a Senior Veterinarian in an organic farm.
The applicant is responsible for overseeing and maintaining farm livestock and equipment. This includes adherence to food safety, security, and animal bio-security procedures. Additionally, they are expected to detect diseases and health issues in forage crops, livestock, and poultry, as well as examine produce for quality and prepare it for the market.
The role involves planning and coordinating day-to-day operations across all livestock activities. Effective communication and collaboration with the Crop Supervisor are essential.
It is imperative to ensure strict adherence to both Company and Farm policies, as well as Standard Operating Procedures.
The position requires the individual to work in both indoor and outdoor conditions throughout the year.
The role has a physical aspect, involving lifting and other physical activities at times. The company will provide the necessary protective equipment, clothing, along with the company policy document and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
