Job Description

The Estimator is in charge of working out job estimates in the most realistic, accurate and

competitive way for the submission of quotations and tenders on enquiries received. Timely

attendance to receive enquiries and preparation of estimates using our proprietary estimation

system.

Duties and responsibilities

• Receipt of contract enquiries, reviewing and preparing a plan of action to price the

enquiries assigned within the deadline requested.

• Ability to follow through enquiry from client and help clarify scope to achieve quote

accuracy in line with client’s instructions / expectations.

• Liaise with the line manager and other team members to develop the overall strategy for

the tender.

• Send out enquiries to the supply chain to ensure the best prices are received by selecting

the most suitable suppliers / manufacturing location for the project.

• Liaise and request support from other individuals in the organization to produce

programmes and quality submissions as dictated by the enquiry/RFQ.

• Analyze the supply chain quotes & negotiate the best costs with knowledge of raw

material costs & manufacturing rate across various economies. Review their terms and

conditions and compare with basic tender practices.

• Prepare tender analysis information & present in a professional fashion for both internal

analysis & presentation to the client.

• Install the costs with sufficient detail to enable contract review.

• Analyze the mark-ups for presentation at the tender vet meetings.

• Ensure the tender summary sheet is signed off in accordance with the procedure.

• Monitor the tenders/quotations and attend meetings with the clients as required.

• Review the enquiry in detail i.e., conditions of contract. Specification, drawings, bill of

materials etc., to identify opportunities, risks, discrepancies and qualify those suitably .

• Attend hand-over meetings between the Estimating Dept. and the Operational and

Commercial Teams & prepare sufficient information to the relevant teams to take the

project forward.

Personal qualities

The ideal candidate for the role of Estimator has the following skills, personal qualities, and

experience:

• 7 to 12 years of experience in fit-out industry preparing estimates preferably with GCC

experience.

• B. Tech, B.E or Diploma holder.

• Knowledge of the full tender process and experience of value engineering

• Experience of analysing trade comparisons

• IT-literate – Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc

• Ability to work individually and as part of a team

• Ability to manage your own time in order to hit deadlines

• Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally in ‘business English’ both in writing and orally
