Job Description

SMP Opportunity Workshop this September!

Ability to develop and implement long-term safety strategies aligned with business objectives based on trends analysis and forecasts.
Strong capabilities in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with the EVP and other senior leadership, as well as effectively coordinate with admin areas.
Thorough understanding of local and international safety regulations and standards, particularly in the Middle East and gas industry.
Ability to develop presentations that are well designed and descriptive for high-level management. (PowerPoint) Ability to use spreadsheets and incorporating formulas to further analyze raw data and produce summarized overviews. (Excel) Ability to write short and long reports, depending on the level of the recipients. This should include the ability to write details and summaries. (Word)

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and influence safety culture at the business line level and lead other teams towards the objectives.
Cultural Fit: Experience working in multinational environments, with an understanding of the cultural dynamics in the Middle East.
Project Management: Demonstrated experience in managing safety-related projects, including the ability to track progress and outcomes. Projects are usually the deployment of new processes, the progress of action items, and the execution of new strategies

Years of Experience:

Minimum:
15-18 years of experience in safety, health, and environmental management, particularly in the oil and gas industry.

Preferred:
20+ years of progressively responsible experience in safety leadership roles, including experience with executive-level reporting.

Experience:

Industry-Specific:
Extensive experience in gas plants or oil and gas sector, with a deep understanding of operational safety issues specific to this industry.

Leadership:
Prior experience in advisory or management roles where safety strategy, compliance, and performance were key responsibilities.

Executive Communication:
Experience in preparing reports and briefs for senior management and executive leaders.

Multisite Operations:
Familiarity with managing or overseeing safety for multiple operational units across various locations.

Admin Support:
Experience working with administrative departments (such as HR, Legal, and Procurement) to integrate safety procedures into their workflows and ensures compliance.

Educational Background:

Degree:
A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Environmental Science.

Preferred:
A Master’s degree in Safety Management, Risk Management, or related fields.

Certifications:

Essential: NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent.
OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certifications.
Preferred: International Risk Management and/or Business continuity certification.
Lead Auditor for ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).
Six Sigma or Lean Management certifications related to safety process improvement.
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) or Process Safety Management (PSM) certifications.
