Commercial vehicle Diesel Technician

Job Description

* The jobholder is responsible for providing an adequate level of maintenance skill, problem

diagnostics, troubleshooting, creative technical solutions and maintenance training to lower-level

technicians to ensure one-for-ever maintenance performance on the same parts.

* The jobholder is responsible for conducting vehicle/equipment maintenance (preventative and

breakdown) as per the directions of his supervisor ensuring efficiency, safety and timeliness of such

maintenance activities.

* The candidate must have the full understanding on how a commercial vehicle diesel engine and

braking/suspension system operates.

* Ensures maintenance for each vehicle/equipment assigned by completing each task on the job card efficiently and within the time allocated

* Diagnoses Commercial vehicle Diesel Engines and mechanical problems that have not been identified on the job card and consults with his supervisor for further instruction.

*Adheres to maintenance schedules for vehicles assigned by his supervisor in order to maximise delays and meet deadlines.

* Maintains the contents of his toolkit and ensure that all tools used for maintenance and repair jobs are in proper condition and function effectively to minimize the potential for damage caused by defective tools.

* Attends to vehicle and/or equipment breakdowns occurring outside of the workshop in emergency/accident situations in order to expedite the repair process and ensure the safety of the drivers/machine operators.

* Monitors the stock of spare parts available and consults inventory records to ensure accommodation of spare parts needs for each maintenance/repair job.

*Tests vehicles/equipment to guarantee their functionality and safety in order to eliminate accidents, injuries and breakdowns.

* Ensures work area is always kept clean and tidy to maintain organisation, safety and efficiency of activities.

* Attends training as per company and principal standards.

* Records maintenance and repairs conducted and updates database for each vehicle/equipment for future reference.

* Develops and updates knowledge of vehicle/equipment mechanicals in order to consistently deliver optimal service and

meet challenges.

* Follows procedures for reporting on performance, budgets and other reports required from time to time by his supervisor.

Minimum Qualification

Diploma or equivalent in Diesel mechanical

❖ Minimum Experience

5years as Qualified diesel mechanic in reputable Dealership operating in the same field,

knowledge of commercial vehicle transmission repairs would be desirable.

❖ Other requirement

Ability to communicate in Arabic or English language.

Ability to pass HTRP (level 1) with a minimum grade of 50%

Adequate level of supervisory or training skills

High levels of detail orientation, coordination skills, dexterity and physical strength
