Job Description

A Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) and Micro tunneling (MT) Engineer with a strong background in Civil/Mechanical/Geotechnical Civil engineering with Proven, hands-on experience in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) and micro tunneling (trenchless methods, such as pipe jacking or Direct Pipe) in oil and gas pipelines, water, telecommunications.

Responsibilities:

To oversee and Design/ planning:

Perform engineering calculations for detailed HDD and Micro-tunneling designs as required (if required).
Review project specifications, drawings, schedules, and (Appr. cost estimates if required)
Develop comprehensive project plans, including bore paths and contingency strategies as per project requirements.
Site supervision and execution:
Monitor daily construction activities and adherence to project specifications and safety regulations.
Manage and plan subcontractors, and required equipment from mobilization and demobilization to execute the jobs.
Act as the primary point of contact with Project Managers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
Operations Management/ Environmental Requirements:

Monitor/report on the progress of drilling and tunneling parameters, such as rate of penetration to the Project managers..
Troubleshoot technical and operational issues, and implement effective solutions with Subcons
Manage the disposal of drilling fluids in compliance with environmental regulations with the subcons..
Documentation and reporting:

To have sufficient knowledge of Procedures and required approvals from Aramco/Governmental authorities.
Review and obtain approvals of Sub-contractors procedures from relevant authorities. (Aramco/MoT/Railway etc..).
Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including daily reports, as-built drawings, and technical reports.
Ensure compliance with all applicable contract documents, standards, and legislation.
Geotechnical analysis and risk management:
Collaborate with geotechnical teams to analyze soil and rock samples and assess subsurface conditions.
Identify potential geological hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
Conduct risk assessments and develop method statements to ensure safe operations
Technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of HDD and micro-tunneling equipment, methodologies, and guidance systems.
Analytical skills: The ability to analyze geotechnical data, technical drawings, and real-time operational metrics.
Problem-solving: Strong capacity to troubleshoot complex on-site issues and adapt to unforeseen challenges.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting, stakeholder interaction, and team collaboration.
Leadership: Ability to guide and mentor site crews and junior staff effectively.
Attention to detail: Meticulous approach to quality control, documentation, and compliance.
Software proficiency: Competence with relevant engineering and project management software (e.g., CAD, scheduling, geotechnical modeling).
Mobility: A Valid driving license and Willingness to travel frequently to all project sites, which may be remote.

Qualification:

Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or Equivalent
Min of 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas industries and having worked min of 5 years with Aramco projects in Saudi Arabia especially in Pipeline/Cross country pipeline projects.
