Roles and Responsibilities

Perform analytical studies and detailed design in accordance with the design basis, project specifications, design criteria, and standards.
Directing the engineering team as a lead engineer on small projects
Apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and non-standard situations.
Prepare clear and accurate design calculations and analyses, including design reports and procedures.
Manage your own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets and develop plans for short-term activities in your own area.
Communicate clearly, explain complex issues, and work to create understanding.
Be fully aware of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all multidisciplinary requirements, including identifying concerns as early as possible and taking appropriate initiatives to address issues
Identify changes to scope and promptly raise change notices, including providing any necessary supporting documentation and estimates.
Provide similar support for change orders.
Interact with all disciplines to develop seamless designs.
Interact with other departments to obtain input for specialty designs and drawings.
Maintain close coordination with other engineering disciplines, planning, and project management teams, as appropriate.
Document substantive communications (communications that lead to important decisions or assignment of actions) and send copies to the lead specialty engineer and specialty manager.
Assist in preparing estimates for tender offers, including reviews of technical inquiries, execution bids, and labor hour estimates.
Raise technical inquiries to obtain missing information, clarify scope of work, and maintain McDermott preferred procedures, specifications, standards, practices, and operational requirements.
Prepare engineering design basis for the discipline, philosophies, and technical specifications as required.
Participate in the development of final delivery lists and deliverables, ensuring compliance with specifications and functional safety.
Attend project review meetings, supplier meetings, engineering meetings, and offshore site surveys, as required.
Provide technical guidance and review to designers who produce products related to process engineering.
Preparing and reviewing design reports and procedures
Assist in providing necessary design inputs to other disciplines to enable them to move forward with their deliverables.
Review supplier and subcontractor submissions, verify compliance with project specifications and provide comments as needed.
Guiding less experienced engineers on MDR procedures and specialization, standards, worksheets, design calculations, software, procurement, technical bid evaluations, technical inquiries, etc.
Verify engineering done by others within the discipline.
Be aware of the costs associated with your own business and specialty.
Act as resources for less experienced colleagues.
Responsible for preparing/validating the following key deliverables, as required according to the scope of the project: Process simulations/heat and material balances
Process flow diagrams (PFD)
Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID)
Process protection diagrams
Equipment and instrumentation data sheets
Process specifications
Operating philosophy and start-up and commissioning manuals
Equipment list (process data)
Line list (process data)
Equipment and line size calculations
Flame radiation and dispersion calculations
Pressure and explosive network studies
Process studies
Provide practical assistance to other disciplines by performing IDC/providing inputs as required for the following activities:
Planning review
Area classification drawings
Safety studies
Electrical load list
Equipment Data Sheets
Instrument Datasheets
ESD, F&G logic diagrams and control schematics
Assist in closing HAZOP related action items.
Participate in internal, client, and third party technical audits of engineering deliverables and supplier documents.

Any nationality

Bachelor of Technology/Engineering (Chemical)

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering
18+ years of experience in Oil & Gas with a main contractor or consultants primarily performing detailed design
Strong knowledge of various design techniques and analysis methods and detailed knowledge of the content and standards of applicable codes and guidelines.
