Job Description

· Responsible for supervising the welding function during the marine campaign.

· Implementation of activities related to welding of pipes on barges/marine vessels
· Determine job requirements for personnel, equipment and welding materials prior to moving to sea.

· Selecting welders for each job and monitoring their performance.

· Coordination with welding inspectors and third party NDT personnel.

· Responsible for all welding activities on board the vessel and on the job site. Reports to the Field Engineer and Barge Superintendent

· Full responsibility for welding supervisors, pipe facing machine operators, jointers, pipe welders and assistants assigned to the project.

· Responsible for providing the welder with the safety equipment required for the job and controlling the supply of this equipment.

· Responsible for implementing applicable welding and QA/QC procedures.

· Conduct toolbox meetings with welding crew and promote safety awareness among them.

· Closely monitor the consumption of welding electrodes and other related materials and report shortages or replenishment requests in advance to the warehouse and field engineer.

· Coordination with client, third party and inspection team

· Able to interpret X-ray films and be familiar with customer specifications and welding standards.

· Solve welding problems and maintain progress.

Compliance in accordance with department/company policies and procedures, integrity policy, code of conduct and HSE standards

male

High school diploma with a technical qualification related to the specialization, or its equivalent.

· Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas industry.

· Strong knowledge of pipe welding using SMAW or FCAW processes and automatic welding using GMAW (intermittent) process in 5G slope mode, air arc drilling and repair welding

· Good level of written and spoken English

· Computer literate

· All marine safety training requirements

· Working knowledge of pipe welding codes such as AP1 1104, DNV OS-F 101, and BS 4515

· Sound technical knowledge in welding processes like SMAW, FCAW (inner and outer shield), STT and welding of different materials like carbon steel, CRA coated steel

· Ability to read and understand welding procedure specifications and inspection plan documents.
