Job Description

Coordinate the movement of cargo by selecting the most efficient shipping methods, routes, and carriers to meet client needs.
Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and insurance forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Negotiate freight rates and service contracts with carriers, aiming to secure the best prices and terms for clients.
Track and trace shipments, providing clients with real-time updates and addressing any issues that may arise during transit.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and customs officials to facilitate smooth operations and ensure customer satisfaction.
Conduct risk assessments for cargo shipments, implementing strategies to mitigate potential losses or delays.
Stay informed on industry regulations, trade agreements, and changes in customs policies that may impact shipping operations.
Provide cost estimates and quotes to clients, explaining the breakdown of charges and potential additional fees.
Manage inventory and warehouse operations, ensuring timely receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
Utilize freight management software and technology to streamline operations and enhance communication with stakeholders.

A bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred to ensure foundational knowledge.

Previous experience in freight forwarding or logistics, ideally with 5 years in a similar role, to navigate complex shipping processes.

A strong understanding of import/export regulations and customs procedures is crucial for compliance and smooth operations.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary to manage multiple shipments and documentation accurately.

Effective communication skills are vital for negotiating with carriers and building rapport with clients.

Proficiency in freight management software (e.g., CargoWise, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite enhances efficiency and data management.

Strong problem-solving abilities are needed to address shipment issues promptly and maintain customer satisfaction.
