Job Description
Core Accounting & Reporting:
1. Bookkeeping & Transactions:
1) Record day-to-day financial transactions (AP, AR, payroll, expenses).
2) Process accounts payable and receivable.
3) Manage bank reconciliations.
4) Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
2. Financial Statement Preparation:
1) Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement) following GAAP/IFRS.
2) Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures.
3. Reconciliations:
1) Perform detailed reconciliations of all key balance sheet accounts (bank, credit cards, intercompany, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, debt).
4. Compliance & Tax Support:
2) Assist with tax filings (sales tax, VAT, income tax) and regulatory reporting.
3) Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant laws.
4) Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
5. Payroll Assistance:
1) Support payroll processing and related journal entries/reconciliations.
6. Fixed Assets:
2) Record fixed asset acquisitions and disposals.
3) Calculate and record depreciation/amortization.
4) Maintain the fixed asset register.
Financial Analysis & Support:
7. Budgeting & Forecasting:
1) Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
2) Track budget vs. actual performance and analyze variances.
8. Management Reporting:
1) Prepare internal management reports (KPIs, departmental spend, profitability analysis).
2) Provide insightful commentary on financial results and trends.
9. Cost Analysis:
1) Analyze costs and identify areas for potential savings or efficiency improvements.
10. Financial Modeling & Analysis:
2) Assist in building financial models for planning, scenario analysis, or investment decisions.
3) Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to support business decisions.
11. Cash Flow Management:
1) Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
2) Assist in managing working capital (AR, AP, Inventory).
Operational & Control:
12. Internal Controls:
1) Help maintain and improve internal financial controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy.
2) Document accounting processes and procedures.
13. Systems & Process Improvement:
1) Utilize and maintain accounting/finance software (ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks, etc.).
2) Identify opportunities to automate tasks and improve efficiency within the finance function.
14. Support & Collaboration:
1) Provide financial information and support to other departments (e.g., Operations, Sales, HR).
2) Collaborate with senior finance staff (Financial Analyst, Controller, CFO).
Key Skills & Qualifications Typically Required:
a. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA often preferred or required for senior roles).
b. Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS and accounting principles.
c. Proficiency in accounting software (ERPs) and advanced Excel skills.
d. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
e. High attention to detail and accuracy.
f. Strong organizational and time management skills.
g. Good communication skills (written and verbal) to explain financial information.
h. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
