Lifting Engineer
Job Description
Job Description: We are seeking a qualified and safety-focused Lifting Engineer to oversee and manage all lifting and rigging operations at the project site. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that lifting activities are planned, coordinated, and executed in compliance with project requirements, Qatar Energy lifting procedures, and international safety standards.
Key Responsibilities: Planning & Execution:
• Develop and review lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements for all critical and non-critical lifts.
• Conduct site surveys and select appropriate lifting equipment and accessories.
• Ensure proper rigging practices and lifting techniques are followed on-site.
• Supervise complex lifting operations and ensure competent personnel are deployed.
Coordination & Supervision:
• Coordinate with site teams, crane operators, riggers, and third-party inspectors to ensure safe execution of lifts.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and safety officers to obtain necessary approvals.
• Conduct pre-lift meetings and toolbox talks to brief involved personnel. � Support the Permit-to-Work process for lifting activities.
Compliance & Safety:
• Ensure lifting operations comply with Qatar Energy PTS & Lifting standards, international lifting codes (e.g., LOLER, BS 7121), and site-specific HSE procedures.
• Verify validity and certification of cranes, lifting gears, and accessories.
• Monitor lifting activities to identify and rectify unsafe conditions.
• Maintain proper documentation of lifting plans, checklists, equipment certifications, and inspection records.
Technical Expertise:
• Provide engineering input for load calculations and crane selection. and lifting arrangements.
• Review vendor documentation for heavy equipment mobilization and installation. � Support in incident investigations related to lifting operations, if required.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 10 — 15 years of experience in lifting and rigging operations, including 8—10 years in Qatar or GCC.
• Strong knowledge of lifting equipment, crane operations, rigging tools, and international safety standards.
• Certified Lifting Engineer or Appointed Person (LEEA)
• Familiarity with Qatar Energy lifting procedures and PTW systems.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, and lifting plan preparation softwar
