Job Description

Position Overview

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee, espresso-based drinks, and other beverages to clients and staff in an industrial catering or corporate environment. This role includes maintaining a clean and organized work area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring that all beverages are prepared to the highest standards. The Barista will also assist in keeping the beverage station stocked and following health and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Beverage Preparation & Service:

o Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based drinks (e.g., lattes, cappuccinos, americanos) and non-espresso beverages (e.g., tea, smoothies, juices).

o Ensure consistency and quality in the preparation and presentation of beverages.

o Handle coffee machines and other equipment efficiently, ensuring they are wellmaintained and functioning properly.

o Customize drinks according to customer preferences, including managing dietary restrictions (e.g., dairy-free, sugar-free options).

• Customer Service:

o Greet customers warmly and take their orders with professionalism and courtesy. o Provide recommendations and answer questions about the menu, ensuring customers have a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

o Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints promptly and courteously.

o Ensure a clean, friendly, and welcoming environment for customers at all times.

• Maintenance & Cleanliness: o Maintain a clean and organized barista station, ensuring that all tools, equipment, and supplies are properly cleaned and sanitized after each use.

o Adhere to health and safety regulations regarding food preparation, cleanliness, and equipment handling.

o Regularly clean coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment to ensure they are in good working condition. o Stock and restock ingredients, such as coffee beans, milk, syrups, and cups, as needed throughout the day.

• Inventory Management:

o Monitor and maintain inventory levels of beverages, milk, syrups, and other supplies, notifying the supervisor when items need to be reordered. o Help manage inventory by rotating stock and checking expiration dates to ensure product quality.

• Cash Handling & Transactions:

o Process customer payments accurately and efficiently, including handling cash, credit card transactions, and digital payment methods.

o Keep accurate records of transactions and manage a cash register as required.

• Team Collaboration:

o Work closely with kitchen staff, catering teams, and other departments to ensure the smooth flow of operations and timely service. o Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a high standard of customer service and workplace efficiency.

• Health & Safety Compliance:

o Follow food safety guidelines and hygiene protocols, ensuring that all food and beverages are prepared in a clean and safe environment. o Comply with local health and safety regulations, including the proper handling and storage of food products and beverages.

o Ensure that safety standards are adhered to, especially regarding the use of hot equipment and beverages.
