Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microsoft Systems L3 Engineer to join our infrastructure team. As a Level 3 Engineer, you will serve as the highest point of escalation for complex technical issues, lead architectural improvements, and ensure the stability and security of our hybrid environment.
The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in core Microsoft infrastructure (Active Directory, Exchange On-Premises), advanced knowledge of the M365 suite (Entra, Purview, Defender), and specific experience with Veritas Enterprise Vault and Thales SafeNet. You will also play a critical role in endpoint security and management using SCCM and Ivanti Security Controls.
Key Responsibilities
• L3 Support & Troubleshooting: Act as the final escalation point for critical incidents involving Identity, Messaging, and Endpoint Management systems. Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major outages.
• Identity Management: Manage and maintain Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), AD Federation Services (ADFS), AD Certificate Authority (AD CS/PKI), and internal DNS architecture.
• Messaging & Archiving: Maintain Exchange Server On-Premises environments and manage email archiving solutions using Veritas Enterprise Vault.
• Cloud & Compliance: Administer the Microsoft 365 stack, specifically managing MS Teams, Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), and utilizing MS Purview for compliance/data governance. Manage security posture via Microsoft Defender.
• Endpoint Management & Patching: Oversee the SCCM (MECM) infrastructure for OSD and application deployment. Manage strict patching schedules and vulnerability remediation using Ivanti Security Controls.
• Security Integration: Manage authentication and security integrations using Thales SafeNet.
• Resilience & Operations: Maintain and test High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) playbooks. Ensure backup and monitoring systems are functioning correctly.
• Future Migration Prep: Assist in planning and executing future migrations from on-premises legacy systems to Exchange Online and Microsoft Intune.
Mandatory Technical Qualifications
Core Infrastructure & Identity:
• Expert-level knowledge of Active Directory (Forest/Domain design, GPO, Replication).
• Deep understanding of ADFS (SAML/OIDC claims) and AD Certificate Authority (Lifecycle management).
• Advanced DNS management and troubleshooting.
• Solid experience with Entra ID (Sync, Conditional Access, Identity Protection).
Messaging & Collaboration:
• Proven expertise in Microsoft Exchange On-Premises (DAG, CAS, Mailbox role administration).
• Mandatory experience with Veritas Enterprise Vault (Troubleshooting indexing, storage, and retention policies).
• Administration of Microsoft Teams (governance, voice, and collaboration settings).
Security & Management Tools:
• SCCM / MECM: Expert-level ability to create collections, packages, and manage OSD.
• Ivanti Security Controls: Mandatory experience in configuring patch groups, scanning, and remediation.
• Thales SafeNet: Experience administering SafeNet authentication or HSM solutions.
• M365 Security: Proficient with Microsoft Defender (Endpoint/Office 365) and MS Purview (DLP, Information Protection, eDiscovery).
General Operations:
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and bulk administration.
• Basic understanding of Virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V) and Network Troubleshooting (Firewalls, Load Balancers, Tracing).
• Familiarity with standard Backup and Monitoring tools.
Beneficial Skills (Nice-to-Have)
• Migration Experience: Previous experience migrating from Exchange On-prem to Exchange Online and moving workloads to Microsoft Intune.
• EUC/VDI: Knowledge of Omnissa Workspace ONE (formerly VMware Workspace ONE).
• Digital Employee Experience: Experience with Nexthink for endpoint analytics and troubleshooting.
Soft Skills & Competencies
• Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to solve complex, non-standard problems under pressure.
• Communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Leadership: Experience mentoring L1/L2 engineers and leading technical initiatives.
• Adaptability: Willingness to learn new technologies (Intune, Cloud Migrations) as business needs evolve.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering with at least 3 years in an L3/Senior role.
• Relevant Certifications (Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate, Messaging Administrator, or Enterprise Administrator Expert) are highly preferred.
